My Health With Oils
How do you use Essential Oils to improve your health?

Essential Oils and Massage Therapy, Simply Amazing!

Have you ever had a massage? A massage is great to aid in the healing of inflamed tissue and muscles, it is also wonderful in the relaxation of the body and mind to help in stress relief. A massage by it’s self is an amazing tool that can be used in your health and healing. Now think of combining that tool with another great tool, essential oils.

Essential oils truly enhances a massage, and intensifies the effectiveness of healing and relaxation. Essential oils also adds to the what a massage with oils can do for you, it adds the dynamic of immune enhancement and homeostasis. It all depends on the oils selected, and the type of work done by the masseur.

When using essential oils in a massage, be sure to dilute with a proper carrier oil. My favorite carrier oil is fractionated Coconut oil, my second favorite is Almond oil. Both oils are easily absorbed by the skin and easily mix with the essential oils. The reason it is so important to dilute the oils in a massage, is that the work done by the masseur does aid in the oils to be more readily absorbed and essential oils come very concentrated. Be sure you are aware of how your body and skin will react to the oils so you know how much to dilute them. If in doubt start heavily diluted and test a small portion of skin until you are sure you know how your skin and body will react.

The oils selected and the techniques used by the masseur are best to be planned, they will enhance if they are not matched properly, however when they are properly planned and matched, there is a certain synergy that happens to truly make an amazingly helpful massage. For example if the person seeking a massage is desiring relaxation a great oil to select would be lavender oil, and the technique of the Masseur would be slow movements that can vary in pressure and usually involve using larger portions of the hand to spread out the pressure and enhance the relaxation. Another great oil to select for stress relief is the Doterra blend called Balance.

When the desire of the massage is to improve general health and to enhance the Immune system, the masseur would focus specific areas of the hands and feet as well as specific areas of the body, usually in a slower technique, using oils such as the Doterra blend OnGuard or the amazing melaleuca essential oil.

For me the common desire for a massage is to help with healing of muscles or inflamed tissue. For this I have found Doterra has created some great oil blends, one called AromaTouch and one called DeepBlue. Of the two my favorite is DeepBlue, I have used it in massages on myself due to muscle injuries from my workouts in the Martial Arts, or in weight lifting.

Homeostasis is a term that is not common to many people, it refers to a state of balance of the health of the body and mind. For this there is not a real specific technique to be used by the masseur, generally speaking, individual masseur will have techniques they prefer. There are two great oils to be used when seeking homeostasis, one is Wild Orange and the other, one of my absolute favorite oils, peppermint oil.

Massages are amazing, our bodies are made to heal themselves and the healing power of touch will drastically improve the healing process of the body. When combining the tool of massage with the healing power of essential oils, and amazing synergy is created and an incredible enhancement to the healing or relaxation of the massage will be reached. Give that combination a try, you will be amazed.

Are you feeling sick? Give it a try, you will be amazed!

I recently had quite an experience, you know how it is with sickness and kids.  One gets sick, then it rolls through the next kid and the next, soon Mom and Dad get it too.  So I had it, it was a cold/cough something or other, and I completely lost my voice.  I mean literally I sounded like I had been smoking for 90 years and had lost at least one lung to cancer, it was bad.  It didn’t hurt too bad like a sore throat would, so that was a good thing, and it was sure annoying to listen to myself.

So like all sicknesses, if you don’t take it easy and slow down, drink the fluids and flush it out, what does it do?  It stays with you, and you suffer, and your spouse suffers….You have been on both sides of that so you know what I mean.  One particularly bad night my wife said to me, aren’t you tired of suffering, look up what would be good for what you have in the essential oils book.  Finally desperate enough, I had a look.  The two that caught my eye was to do a topical of a Doterra blend called “Breath” and the other was my good old peppermint.

I rubbed the “Breath” on the outside of my neck and I put a drop of peppermint in the back of my throat, I wouldn’t recommend everyone to do that it can get painful – I have been using it that way for quite a wile so it doesn’t bother me any more and it affects me quickly, just how I want it to.

No one was around for the next two or so hours so I didn’t use my voice at all.  When my wife came home and I said “Welcome home!” I couldn’t believe my ears, I almost sounded normal!

I have since applied it one more time in the same way and had additional benefits.  I was just blown away at how it felt so good to use the oils, and how much they really helped.  It was all Natural medicine to me.  I loved it.

Diluting Essential Oils – a must do with little children

safety mattersI had an experience once when I first started using essential oils on my kids. My young son had a stomach issue so I put some specific oils on his stomach however one oil was not diluted as recommended.

I was horrified to see his little stomach turn red as he cried it hurts! it hurts!

I will never again do such a thing. We always keep our oils out of reach and secure, and whenever we use them on little ones we first make sure it is diluted and second we use just a very small amount to make sure there is no reaction before we fully use it. Please keep the little ones safe. One of the best carrier oils to dilute essential oils is fractionated coconut oil, you can get some from the above link, just click on the “shop” button.

Review: Peppermint Oil

This is a review of Peppermint Essential Oils and the great benefits and help that it can be to you and your body.

I can still remember waking up as a child around Christmas time, rubbing the sleepy and fog from my eyes.  Seeing the lights of the Christmas tree as I stepped out of my bedroom, and then as my eyes focussed the outline of the Christmas tree would form, then I would see the beautiful reds, greens, golds, silver, ornaments.  The tinsel, the stockings, the manger scene, the fire in the fireplace.  However the most memorable part of the season was the smell, there are many smells of Christmas time, and the best one, the strongest one, the one I enjoy the most is the smell of peppermint.  More than just reminding me of Christmas time, the Peppermint Essential Oil has many wonderful benefits.  Because of the benefits this is one oil I keep with myself wherever I go.

There are two reasons I keep peppermint oil, the first is for my allergies.  When my throat gets all scratchy and my nose starts to twitch from whatever is currently triggering my allergies, I put a drop of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade peppermint oil in the back of my throat.  The peppermint oil helps prevent my body from going into the regular issues due to allergy irritations.  If I have already allowed the allergies to get my nose running, the peppermint oil also helps clear up nasal issues.

If you have nasal issues from allergies or from being sick peppermint oil can be put in the mouth or in a glass of water to help clear up nasal issues such as runny nose, or a stuffy nose.  This is from the menthol that is in an abundance in peppermint oil and is also used in a lot of nasal over the counter medicines.

The second reason I keep peppermint oils with me is to help with boosting me up on days or at times when I am tired.  I love to put a drop or two into a bottle of water, shake it up and then sip from it when I start feeling tired.  The strong cool feeling of the peppermint oil wakes me right up.

There are other known benefits of peppermint include helping with headaches by putting some oil on your temples, fore head, and the back of your neck.  Ingesting peppermint oil will also help with digestion, nausea, other stomach or intestinal issues.  Peppermint oil also helps boost energy and alertness.

Peppermint oil has many uses and is of great value to anyone who loves oils and the benefits they are to your health.  I encourage you to do a little more studying of peppermint oil and then buy some and use it.  You will enjoy this oil as well, and it will help you in your journey to better health.

Energy Boost by Diffusing Essential Oils

I have been training in the Martial arts for about 16 years, and still going strong. Some days you have all the energy you want to kick to grapple to punch to throw. Other days however, there is much that is lacking in the energy and motivation.

One such day when I was really feeling the lack of energy, was a day that we were doing our belt test. The Martial Arts school that I was attending, and now teach for, we do belt rankings like Karate with all the color belts and black belt and then degrees of black belt. This particular day was my blue belt test, which is the higher level of the Intermediate belt level. I was just plain tired from all the training and prep work.

When I got there the Instructors had turned on this strange machine in the corner and a mist was rising out of it. That mist had a wonderful citrus smell, like oranges. When I inquired about it they told me that it was essential oils and that it would help with our energy levels and thus busting our motivation.

I can tell you that it really helped I was able to perform the kicks, punches, grappling and sparing. Full force and without becoming exhausted. It blew me away, how much help a simple oil with a wonderful smell could affect the mood and energy of the entire room, and me.

The process of using a diffuser is simple. You setup the diffuser following the instructions and usually will use water with only a few drops, about 3 to 5, of oil in the water and add the mixture to the diffuser. A diffuser can be anything from a piece of cloth with oil on it, to a heater, to a nebulizer. A nebulizer diffuser is the most effective, since it does not heat the oil, nor does it rely on the evaporation of the water/oil mixture.

The oils that work best for boosting energy for me are:

  1. orange
  2. lemon
  3. peppermint

All Natural Allergy Relief With Essential Oils!

I love Essential Oils. When I tell people this it always brings up the question, why? The main reason I wanted to start using essential oils is because of an experience I had working for an Internet company that sold essential oils.

I was managing their web site and one day my allergies were really bugging me, at the time this was a very common thing and those that also suffer know how annoying this is. The owner of the company notice me suffering and brought me a nose inhaler that had some essential oils in it for me to smell the vapors.

Usually when I have an allergy attack I take pills, eye drops, and nasal spray. This process take a half hour to an hour before I get a small amount of relief. But after using oils that day my allergy relief came in a few short minutes, and it was a more full relief. I was blown away!

I forgot it all after I quit working for that company, until a wile later my neighbor again saw me suffering. He suggested I put some peppermint oil on the roof of my mouth to help with the allergies. Again I was blown away, allergy relief came within minutes. I was still hesitant to start using them full time, until it happened a third and forth time with the same quick results.

I am a person that will wait till the last minute to take a pain killer for a headache, I am slow to go to the doctor to get pills for any issue, mostly because they just seem to do crazy things to my body. I don’t have the same concerns with essential oils, especially since the oils I use are certified pure therapeutic grade.

For relief today I use two main essential oils, one is Peppermint that I put on the roof of my mount with my thumb. The other oil is Melaleuca that I apply topically or diffuse into the air, I apply it under my nose and on my cheek bones, the vapor helps my itchy eyes.

If you are like me and want to have a natural source of allergy relief, or if what you are doing now with the pills, nasal spray, and eye drops is just driving you crazy with little relief, then Essential Oils are for you. Not all essential oils are the same it is really important to be able to trust the oils you use, trust that they are pure. Only choose Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential Oils.
